On Monday, October 18th, Seau crashed his SUV over an oceanside cliff in Carlsbad, California. According to an AP report, a witness on the scene described the car as "whipping by" him. Seau, who received only minor injuries from the incident, states that he fell asleep at the wheel. The car, which left no skid marks on the road, ended up on a beach about 100 feet below. There was no guardrail. NFL Career
Seau has 12 career Pro Bowl selections in 16 seasons with the San Diego Chargers, Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots. Seau retired in 2006 for four days, then signed a one-year contract with New England to help their lack of linebackers at the start of the season. 2007 Season
Seau has never won a Super Bowl and after retiring in 2006, he announced that he would come out of retirement in order to play for the New England Patriots.
