In Argentina, they celebrate Journalist Day on June 7th. This holiday is observed to honor the Gazeta de Buenos Ayres, which in English means Buenos Aires newspaper. It was a newspaper that released their first issue on June 7, 1810. The newspaper was used to publicize the government actions of the Primera Junta, which was the first Argentian government. The government ordered the newspaper to be read after mass due to the high levels of illiteracy in the population at that time. The paper was later closed in 1821.
