  • The July 3, 2007, standoff between Pakistan's military and Islamic extremists at Lal Masjid culminated in the bloody Red Mosque Siege.   • Government Response

    Much of the violence has been concentrated in the Northern regions border Afghanistan, an area that has been identified as an Al Qaeda stronghold.
