Julianne Hough, two-time Dancing with the Stars winner, was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center following her performance on the October 21, 2008 live show. Doctors determined that Hough has endometriosis which requires the removal of her appendix. Endometriosis
Endometriosis occurs when the tissue that lines the uterus is shed monthly and grows in areas outside of the uterus. Symptoms of this condition can include painful cramping, bleeding and chronic lower back and pelvic pain. The surgical options to remove the growths include, Laparoscopy (removal of the growths with a thin, lighted tube), Laparotomy (a large abdominal incision) and hysterectomy.
