Early Publishing Career
The President of Pocket Books hired Judith Regan, who began her success in the publishing industry with a number of celebrity autobiographies. Among the celebrity authors Regan published were Drew Barrymore and Kathy Lee Gifford.
Working with News Corporation
In 1994 News Corp. offered Judith Regan a position as the head of her own imprint, ReganBooks, within HarperCollins. The partnership with New Corp. began successfully, and Regan even branched into television production. However, things soured when Regan agreed to publish a book written by O.J. Simpson called If I Did It. In addition, HarperCollins accused Regan of using anti-Semitic language. Ultimately, Regan was fired from HarperCollins, but Regan brought a lawsuit again News Corp., and the two parties eventually reach an out of court settlement.
