  • Along with fellow Englishmen Iron Maiden, heavy metalband Judas Priest came to prominence in the late 1970s. As the 1980s set in, the group's songs got shorter and more radio-friendly, which led to mainstream success for hits like "You've Got Another Thing Comin'"—especially once MTV jumped on the hard rock bandwagon. The band has sold more than 35 million albums internationally.

    In 1998 vocalist Rob Halford confirmed that he was gay in an MTV interview. Many fans, members of the press, and the band themselves had known for years.
