Early Life
Juan Carlos Cruz was born in Bonao, Dominican Republic, on October 15, 1978. In 1997, he was signed by the Chicago Cubs as an amateur free agent.Baseball-Reference.com: Juan Carlos CruzPro Career
On August 21, 2001, Cruz made his Major League Baseball debut with the Chicago Cubs. In 2004, he was traded to the Atlanta Braves, and then in the off-season was traded to the Oakland Athletics. He was traded again in 2006, this time to the Arizona Diamondbacks.
