Jrue Holiday is a professional basketball player, playing in the National Basketball Association for the Philadelphia 76ers. Holiday was born in Chatsworth, California, on June 12, 1990.
Holiday attended Campbell Hall School while he was in high school, where he was ranked as one of the top college recruits for the class of 2008. In his final year of high school, Holiday averaged 25.9 points per game, 11.2 rebounds per game, 6.9 assists per game and 4.8 steals per game. He was selected as a McDonald's All-American in 2008.
Holiday decided to attend UCLA for his college career and although he didn't have a stellar season, where he averaged just 8.5ppg, Holiday did enough to make him an enticing draft prospect.
Holiday declared himself eligible for the NBA Draft and was drafted with the 17th overall pick by the 76ers. Standing at 6-4 tall, Holiday was mainly used as a point guard by the 76ers, but can also play shooting guard. Holiday is currently the youngest player in the NBA, and he is seen to be a cornerstone of the 76ers for years to come.http://www.nba.com/playerfile/jrue_holiday/bio.html
Jrue Holiday 2009-10 Season
Holiday was walking into a very good situation with the 76ers where the only guards in front of him were Lou Williams, Willie Green, and a difficult position for Andre Iguodala to play. When Lou Williams went down injured, Holiday had the opportunity to start.
Holiday made the most of his opportunity, starting 51 games out of the 73 games he participated in. Even when Williams came back from injury, Holiday kept his starting spot as the 76ers were out of Playoff contention.
Holiday had a solid if not unspectacular rookie season, averaging 8 points per game, 3.8 assists per game, 2.6 rebounds per game, and 1.1 steals per game in 24 minutes of action. His field goal percentage of 44% is very good for a rookie who shot a lot of his shots from outside, who also shot 39% from three point range.
Look out for Holiday in the next five years as he continues to mature and provide a key partnership with Jodie Meeks and Iguodala for the 76ers.http://www.nba.com/playerfile/jrue_holiday/game_by_game_stats.html
