JR Smith whose birth name is Earl Smith III, was born September 9, 1985 in Freehold, New Jersey is a professional basketball player in the NBA and plays for the Denver Nuggets. Smith plays shooting guard and is one of the top three point shooters in the league.
Smith was a high school McDonalds All-American after his senior season in high school playing at Saint Benedict's Preparatory School. Smith signed a letter of intent to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill coming out of high school but instead he chose to pass by college and pursue a career in the National Basketball Association. JR Smith is very giving back to the community as he has started his own charity, The JR Smith Foundation and also the last two seasons he has purchased tickets to every home game for underprivileged families.
