JR Smith

JR Smith whose birth name is Earl Smith III, was born September 9, 1985 in Freehold, New Jersey is a professional basketball player in the NBA and plays for the Denver Nuggets. Smith plays shooting guard and is one of the top three point shooters in the league.

Smith was a high school McDonalds All-American after his senior season in high school playing at Saint Benedict's Preparatory School. Smith signed a letter of intent to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill coming out of high school but instead he chose to pass by college and pursue a career in the National Basketball Association. JR Smith is very giving back to the community as he has started his own charity, The JR Smith Foundation and also the last two seasons he has purchased tickets to every home game for underprivileged families.

This has been one of JR Smith best overall seasons over his six year stint in the NBA. Smith is averaging a career high in points (15.3), minutes (27.7), and steals (1.3) per game. Smith's best game of the season came on December 23, 2009 against the Atlanta Hawks where he had a career high with 41 points connecting on 10-17 three point field goals. He had a great defensive game this season against the Detroit Pistons on February 26, 2010 where he had a career high 5 steals. J.R. Smith welcomed a daughter into the world this season on February 8, 2010. Demi was born at 9:04 p.m. at Rose Medical Center. Shirley Harris gave birth to Demi, who checked in at 7 pounds, 7 ounces.

JR Smith really step his game up to another level when the playoffs started for the 2008/2009 season. During their 3 playoff series against 1st round opponent New Orleans Hornets, 2nd round Dallas Mavericks, and Western Conference Finals Los Angels Lakers before losing this series 4-2, averaged 14.9 points per game and shot over 45% from the field.
