  • Josh Beckett is a World Series MVP pitcher for the Boston Red Sox. He is widely regarded as a premiere big game pitcher as a two-time World Series champion, with the Florida Marlins in 2003 and the Boston Red Sox in 2007. He was the World Series MVP in 2003 and the American League Championship Series Most Valuable Player in 2007.

  • Early Life

    Joshua Patrick Beckett was born in Spring, Texas, on May 15, 1980. As a youth he attended Spring High School in Texas, where he established himself as one of the top prospects in the nation coming out of high school. Even though he was heavily recruited, he decided to forgo College and turn pro.

  • Pro Career

    Beckett made his major league debut on September 4, 2001, for the Florida Marlins. He would lead the Florida Marlins to the World Series championship in 2003, picking up the World Series MVP along the way. He would continue to establish himself as an excellent pitcher. But in 2005, with the Florida Marlins looking to cut down payroll Beckett was traded with third Baseman [[Mike Lowell for Guillermo Mota, Hanley Ramirez and three other pitchers. He would anchor the Red Sox Pitching staff leading them into the playoffs and an eventual World Series title in 2007. Along the way he earned the American League Championship Series Most Valuable Player.
