On December 28, 2008, news agencies reported that Josh Bard had signed a one year contract with the Boston Red Sox. Bard returns to the Red Sox where he briefly played in 2006. Pro Career
Bard was traded to the Cleveland Indians for Jody Gerut in 2001. On August 23, 2002, Bard made his MLB debut with the Cleveland Indians. In 2006, he was traded to the Boston Red Sox with Coco Crisp and David Riske for Andy Marte, Kelly Shoppach and Guillermo Mota. Later that year he was traded again, this time to the San Diego Padres for Doug Mirabelli.
