    According to reports, Joseph Pallipurath and Reshma James were wed in an arranged marriage in India in 2007. The couple lived in Sacramento, California, and James' friends claim the marriage was abusive. James had moved to New Jersey before the shooting. Police say restraining orders were issued against Pallipurath in both California and New Jersey.
