Carnevale stated the idea of the art project came to him while he was attending a class on May 31, 2009, and grew throughout the rest of the day. After class, he took the three barrels back to his apartment, where he spent 90 minutes painting and modifying the barrels. Carnevale returned to the site, constructing the barrel monster, which appeared to be hitchhiking along the roadside near North Carolina State University.http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31395158/ns/us_news-weird_news/

Raleigh police dismantled the creation the following morning and later traced Carnevale to the crime via his personal blog. He was arrested on June 10, 2009, and charged with larceny and possession of stolen property. Police allege the three barrels are worth $360 and are owned by Hamlin Associates. The president of Hamlin Associates, Steven Hussey, supports the project and does not want to press charges. Hussey went on to say the project has given the company positive publicity and has asked Carnevale to reconstruct the statue.http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31395158/ns/us_news-weird_news/
