Joseph Campbell

Joseph Campbell was an American professor of comparative mythology, speaker, and author.

The legacy of Joseph Campbell can be seen in nearly all forms of modern storytelling, from novels to comic books to motion pictures. His "Hero's Journey" motif, or "Monomyth" boils down all mythic and contemporary narrative to a series of common steps. Films such as Star Wars and The Lion King follow this formula very precisely.
