Jose Capellan is a right-handed pitcher for the Colorado Rockies. A native of the Dominican Republic, Capellan originally signed with the Atlanta Braves as an amateur free agent. After six seasons as a minor league prospect in the Braves organization, Capellan made his major league debut on September 12, 2004. The following season, the Braves traded Capellan and Alec Zumwalt to the Milwaukee Brewers for Danny Kolb. Capellan was then sent to the Detroit Tigers for Chris Cody. On December 4, 2007, the Tigers sent Capellan to the Rockies for Denny Bautista.
