Ramsey's parents, John and Patsy Ramsey, were subsequently investigated for the crime. Their behavior immediately after the death—flying to their former hometown of Atlanta, Georgia, and limiting police interviews—was viewed as suspect by critics in the press. The ensuing media frenzy also included criticism of the Ramsey's parenting: Patsy Ramsey had entered her daughter in numerous beauty contests, in which JonBenet was presented in full adult makeup and clothing.
