  • Professional football linebacker Jonathan Vilma plays in the National Football League for the New Orleans Saints.

    In March of 2009, Sekou Sakor and Ansu Keita were shot and killed in a Long Island condo owned by Vilma. The victims were African immigrants that were said to be part of an Internet scam.   • Arrest

    Vilma was arrested on January 16, 2009, in Miami, Florida, for speeding and running a red light. Officers stated that Vilma became belligerent and he was booked for reckless driving and resisting arrest.ESPN.com: Report: Vilma Became Belligerent Miami prosecutors ultimately dropped the charges on February 25, 2009.   • Football Career

    Prior to playing professionally, Vilma played college football with the Miami Hurricanes in the NCAA. He played in 47 games, totaling 371 tackles, three sacks and one interception. Vilma helped the Hurricanes win the BCS Championship Game to become the 2001 national champions. After college, Vilma was selected 12th overall in the 2004 NFL draft by the New York Jets.

    He joined the Jets for his professional debut that same year, playing in all 16 games, recording 107 tackles and a career-high three interceptions. Vilma continued with the Jets for three additional seasons, before he was traded to the New Orleans Saints on February 29, 2008.

    Vilma was set to enter the free agency on February 27, 2009, however reached a contract agreement with the Saints. The deal is said to be worth $34 million over five seasons, $17 million of which is guaranteed.ESPN.com: Source: Saints Lock Up Vilma
