Jonathan Goodwin

Professional football offensive lineman Jonathan Goodwin plays for the New Orleans Saints in the National Football League. Prior to playing with the Michigan Wolverines football team, Goodwin spent some time at Ohio University. He played four positions with the Wolverines, center, right guard, left guard and right tackle, starting in 20 of 29 career games. Goodwin was selected 154th overall in the fifth round of the 2002 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. He spent his first four seasons in the pros with the Jets, starting in just 13 games of 59, but spending much of his time on special teams. Goodwin entered free agency after the 2005 season, signing with the New Orleans Saints. After becoming the starting center for the team in 2008, Goodwin started in all 16 regular season games with the Saints in the 2009 regular season. The first 13 games, including a Thanksgiving weekend upset of the New England Patriots, were victories. The team pulled their starters then dropped their final three games of the season, but still clinched a first-round bye and home-field advantage in the NFL Playoffs. During the 2008 season, Goodwin played in and started 13 regular season games, missing time with a knee injury. His play helped the team record their franchise-best 13 sacks allowed.
