In the March 2008 Details Magazine, The Jonas Brothers talked openly about their purity rings. The rings signify that they will wait until marriage to have sex.
At the September 2008, MTV Video Music Awards, host Russell Brand repeatedly joked about the Brothers' purity rings and told them to "take advantage of their celeb status to get lucky." Jordin Sparks commented about Brand's remark, saying that "not every guy and girl wants to be a slut, ok?"
