Jon Stewart

Comedian, actor, writer and producer Jon Stewart has produced and hosted the popular political satire television show The Daily Show since 1998. He has also appeared in several films and served as the host for the 2006 and 2008 Academy Awards.

Stewart and The Daily Show have earned several Emmy Awards including for Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Program, in 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2009, and Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series, winning the honor each year from 2003 to the most-recent win at the 2010 Emmy Awards. His honors continue to the Grammy Awards as well, winning for Best Comedy Album in 2005 for his America (The Audiobook): A Citizen's Guide to Democracy Inaction.

Stewart grew up in New York City then attended the College of William and Mary. He held several jobs after college before he got his start in acting. In the early 1990s he was given his own show on MTV, The Jon Stewart Show. He went on to appear in several films including Half Baked, The Faculty and Big Daddy. Stewart took over as host of The Daily Show in 1998, which has since earned numerous Emmy Awards. In addition to writing and producing The Daily Show, Stewart is also the executive producer of the popular Stephen Colbert show The Colbert Report.

In March 2009, Stewart began a personality clash with Jim Cramer, a financial analyst on CNBC, while commenting on the market. Cramer responded on several MSNBC shows, which prompted further response from Stewart, drawing on several Viacom characters in his skit.
