Comedian, actor, writer and producer Jon Stewart has produced and hosted the popular political satire TV show, The Daily Show since 1998. He has also hosted the 2006 and 2008 Academy Awards.
On April 15, 2009, the term "muppet scat" surged to number one on Google Trends following an impromptu statement from Stewart encouraging Daily Show viewers to Google the term. Career Highlights
Stewart grew up in New York City then attended the College of William and Mary. He held several jobs after college before he got his start in acting. In the early 1990s he was given his own show on MTV, The Jon Stewart Show. He went on to appear in several films including Half Baked, The Faculty and Big Daddy. Stewart took over as host of The Daily Show in 1998, which has since earned ten Emmy Awards. In addition to writing and producing The Daily Show, Stewart is also the executive producer of the popular Stephen Colbert show The Colbert Report. -
Jim Cramer Feud
In March 2009 Stewart began a personality clash with Jim Cramer, a financial analyst from CNBC while commenting on the market. Cramer responded on several MSNBC shows, which prompted further response from Stewart, drawing on several Viacom characters in his skit. On March 12, 2009, Jim Cramer appeared on The Daily Show to respond to Stewart's remarks. -
