Johnny Depp is an American actor who first became popular for his role in the TV Series 21 Jump Street and then rose to fame for his lead performance in Tim Burton's Edward Scissorhands. His most notable role is playing Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Depp is set to appear in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland.

John Christopher Depp III was born in Owensboro, Kentucky on June 9, 1963. He is the youngest child of waitress Betty Sue Palmer and civil engineer John Christopher Depp, Jr. He has a half-brother named Danny, a half-sister named Debbie, and a sister Christie, who is Depp's manager. His parents divorced when he was 15. In 1983, Depp married Lori Anne Allison, but the couple divorced in 1985. Since 1998, he has cohabited with French singer/actress Vanessa Paradis, and the couple have a daughter (Lily-Rose Melody) and a son (Jack John Christopher Depp). -
Career
In 1987, Depp starred in the series 21 Jump Street. His first major film role was in the 1984 film A Nightmare on Elm Street. Depp has appeared in several Tim Burton films including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Sleepy Hollow. -
Death Rumor
On January 24, 2010, rumors of Johnny Depp's death struck the internet world. Reports came out that Depp was involved in a car accident, in which he was apparantly driving under the influence.
