After being drafted by the Bengals in 2006, Joseph made his rookie debut against the Kansas City Chiefs, recording five tackles. Joseph finished the season with 57 tackles and 20 passes defended.

In 2007, Joseph played in 15 games and recorded a total of 62 tackles. Joseph got his first interception on October 21 against the New York Jets, returning Chad Pennington's throw 42 yards for a touchdown. Joseph was one of several Bengals to be arrested during the 2006 season. On January 22, 2007, he was arrested in Northern Kentucky and charged with marijuana possession.
