John Wall is a collegiate athlete who attends the University of Kentucky. Coming out of high school, Wall was ranked as one of the top college basketball athletes in 2009. On May 19, 2009, Wall announced his decision to attend the University of Kentucky. Before he even suited up for the Kentucky Wildcats, Wall was faced with a punishment from the NCAA because he received travel benefits from his AAU coach, Brian Clifton, who was a certified agent at the time. In his first collegiate game against Clarion University of Pennsylvania, the freshman led his team in points with 27, and also finished with nine assists in 28 minutes of playing time. He topped that performance when he made the game-winning shot over Miami (Ohio) with .5 seconds remaining on the clock – finishing the game with 19 points and 3 steals.
