  • On April 22, 2008, according to police, John Tassinari, 29, shot and killed his wife, Barbara Tassinari, 29, behind their suburban home in Abington, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston. Tassinari called the police immediately after the slaying to confess to the crime, which he said was motivated by his wife's infidelity. When police arrived, Barbara Tassinari's brother, Frank Scolano, was holding Tassinari at gunpoint and threatening to kill him. Tassinari has pleaded not guilty to the crime and is being held without bail.

    Tassinari graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, and was considered a "boy genius" by teachers at Braintree High School in Braintree, Massachusetts. The blog on his MySpace page has a comprehensive list of the guns he owns and what he envisions using them for. In addition, several postings and photos on the page refer to bondage-related activities.

    Barbara Tassinari lived on the same street as her brother and parents in Abington. According to real estate records, the couple bought the home for $379,000 in June, 2007. The Tassinaris have two children: Noah, age 10, and Frank, age 1. At least the youngest child was at home at the time of the murder.
