John Scofield is an accomplished jazz guitarist and composer. His illustrious career as a musician has seen him cross paths with Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Jaco Pastorius, Pat Metheny, Medeski Martin and Wood, John Mayer, and countless other artists from all different genres.
After attending the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, Scofield played with a handful of artists including Billy Cobham, Charlies Mingus, and Gary Burton. In 1982 Scofield began a three year stint with jazz legend Miles Davis. He was also releasing solo albums and he focused on being a bandleader when he left Davis' group. In the early '90s, Scofield signed to seminal jazz label Blue Note Records and released several albums before finding a new direction: jazz-funk (collaborating with Medeski Martin & Wood) and, later, electronic/jam band music. The John Scofield Band, which featured Adam Deitch on drums and Avi Bortnick on rhythm guitar, experimented with drum n bass and acid jazz music starting with 2002's Uberjam.
Scofield continues to evolve his sound and experiment with music both in the studio and on tour.
