John Q is a 2002 film about factory worker John Quincy Archibald, a father and husband whose son needs an emergency heart transplant operation. His insurance will not cover the operation and Archibald cannot afford it on his own. With no recourse but to take his son home to die, he becomes desperate and holds the staff and patients of the hospital's emergency room hostage at gunpoint, until the hospital puts his son's name on the donor's list.
