John Paul Jones

Multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer John Paul Jones was an in-demand session player before he joined forces with Jimmy Page in the band that would become Led Zeppelin.

NOT Just the Bassist

John Paul Jones was the unsung hero of Led Zeppelin. He's known as the group's bassist, and many fans remember him alternating between bass and keyboards on stage (what would the atmospheric "No Quarter" be without that keys part!). But Jones threw a ton of other instruments on a ton of Zeppelin classics, many of which he co-wrote. Mandolin, cello, ukulele, sitar and lap steel guitar, among many other instruments, sound sweet in Jones' capable hands.
