Swedish professional hockey player John Oduya plays for the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League.
Playing Career
Oduya began his career playing in Sweden for the Hammarby IF Stockholm in the Elitserien starting in 1996. He spent one season, 2000-01, in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the Moncton Wildcats and the Victoriaville Tigres. Oduya was drafted 221st overall in the 2001 NHL draft by the Washington Capitals. He returned to the Elitserien after the draft and played two seasons with the Hammarby IF Stockholm, two seasons with the Djurgardens IF Stockholm and one season with the Frolunda HC Goteborg. On July 24, 2006, Oduya signed with the New Jersey Devils. He made his NHL debut that same year.
