  • Career Highlights

    Prior to joining the NHL, Liles attended and played for Michigan State University. He was drafted 159th overall in the 2000 NHL Draft by the Colorado Avalanche, but continued to play in college for three more years. In 2002 and 2003, Liles was selected as the best offensive defenseman in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. After graduation, Liles joined the Avalanche American Hockey League affiliate, the Hershey Bears. He made his NHL debut in the 2003-04 season, playing 79 games and being selected for the NHL All-Rookie Team. The following season Liles played in Germany during the NHL Lockout. He returned to the Avalanche in 2005, playing all 82 regular season games, plus nine playoff games. In 2006, Liles represented Team U.S.A. in the Winter Olympics. Also in 2006, Liles signed a contract extension to keep him with the Avalanche for two additional seasons.
