John McCook is an American television and stage actor whose roots in daytime television spans over three decades on two different soap operas.

Theater
John McCook is a bona fide Californian. He went to school at Long Beach State College and there he appeared in the production of Tea and Sympathy. He also worked at Disneyland. He was noticed by the famous Jack Warner] while playing the part of Tony in West Side Story. Universal Studios signed him as a contract player. He was drafted into the U.S. Army for a two year tour of duty. His professional debut was at the San Diego Circle Arts Theater. He was fortunate to be able to work at Melodyland in Guys and Dolls, along with Hugh O'Brian and Betty Grable. Other theater productions he appeared in were Firefly, and Flower Drum Song.Exposed
After the army he starred in the world tour of Barefoot in the Park and then productions of Mame working with the legendary, Ann Miller. The role of Lance Prentiss was offered to him for the new daytime soap, The Young and the Restless. Because of his exposure to daytime television, this enabled him to be noticed for other starring roles in musical theater such as Oklahoma, The Pirates of Penzance, Peter Pan, and 42nd Street playing opposite Carol Burnett.Television
John McCook has also appeared in several television series as a guest on L.A. Law, Murder, She Wrote, Three's Company, and many others. He now plays the role of Eric Forrester on the television daytime soap Bold and the Beautiful. He has been nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor and he received the M.V.P. Award from Soap Opera Update Magazine.-
