  • National Hockey League center John Madden currently plays with the New Jersey Devils. He serves as an alternate captain for the Devils. He has won the Frank Selke Trophy in 2001 and is a two time Stanley Cup winner with the Devils in 2000 and 2003.
  • Career Highlights

    Prior to his NHL career, Madden played hockey in college for the Michigan Wolverines. In 1996, Madden helped the Wolverines win the NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Championship. He also set a league record for shorthanded goals (23) and was selected for the All-Star team.

    After college, Madden signed as a free agent with the New Jersey Devils on June 26, 1997. He split his first season between the Devils and their American Hockey League, playing his first four NHL games during the 1998-1999 season. He earned a full roster spot with the Devils the following year. He helped the Devils win the Stanley Cup in both 2000 and 2003. In 2001 he was selected for the Frank Selke Trophy, given to the best defensive forward in the NHL.
