John J. Connolly was an
FBI agent who worked closely with
Boston,
Massachusetts, mafia informants. Connolly allegedly made illegal deals with the mobsters
James "Whitey" Bulger and Stephen Flemmi to grant them immunity from prosecution for their information. Connolly was convicted on racketeering charges in 2002. In 2008, Connolly went to trial on murder charges for allegedly providing information to the organized crime family that led to several murders in 1981 and 1982.
