  • John Grahame is an American professional hockey player who most recently played for the Avangard Omsk in the Continental Hockey League in Russia. Grahame previously played in the National Hockey League from 1999 to 2008.

    Ghahame was reportedly terminated from the Avangard Omsk in December of 2008, after an alcohol-related arrest. He denies accusations of alcoholism and will appeal the termination in Moscow on January 14, 2009.ESPN.com: Ex-NHL Goalie John Grahame Appealing Banishment From Russia

  • NHL Career

    Grahame was originally drafted 229th overall in the 1994 NHL draft by the Boston Bruins. He chose to attended college before joining the NHL, enrolling at Lake Superior State University. In 1997, Grahame was assigned to the Providence Bruins, a Bruins American Hockey League affiliate. He made his NHL debut in 1999, playing 24 games his first year. In 2003, Grahame was traded by the Bruins to the Tampa Bay Lightning. The following year he helped the team win the 2004 Stanley Cup Championship. Grahame then signed as a free agent with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2006. Shortly after the 2007-08 season, Grahame signed with the Avangard Omsk in the Continental Hockey League.
