John Goodman is an Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning actor who made a name for himself with the role of "Dan Connor", on the TV show Roseanne, which ran from 1988 to 1997.
Goodman plays the father of an obsessive fashionista (Isla Fisher) in the film Confessions of a Shopaholic, which opens in U.S. theaters on February 13, 2009.
Film and Television Career
Following his Roseanne role, Goodman had a recurring role as "Glen Allen Walken", the House Speaker, on the Aaron Sorkin drama, The West Wing, and appeared several times as a guest host on the comedy sketch show, Saturday Night Live.
Goodman has also appeared in a myriad of films, and often works with The Coen Brothers. He played "Gale" in Raising Arizona, "Charlie Meadows" in Barton Fink, the "Rockwell Newsreel announcer" in The Hudsucker Proxy, "Big Dan Teague" in O Brother, Where Art Thou? and "Walter Sobchak" in The Big Lebowski.
In 2008, Goodman appeared as Speed Racer's dad, Pops, in the film adaptation of Speed Racer with Emile Hirsch, Christina Ricci and Matthew Fox.
