  • John Fogerty is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist who is known primarily as the driving force behind classic rock legends Creedence Clearwater Revival. Since departing the band, Fogerty has gone on to release a handful of well-received solo albums, including 2007's Revival, which may be his most critically acclaimed effort.
  • Music

Country-rock was a widespread trend when Fogerty first gained prominence with Creedence in the late 1960s, but Fogerty's music held unique qualities that continue to define him. Whereas many similar bands, including The Grateful Dead and The Byrds, had a mellow approach, Creedence was hard-driving, influenced by swampy Delta blues, soulful R&B (such as Otis Redding) as well as 1950s rockabilly music.
