John Edwards' Mistress Rielle Hunter
On Friday, June 3, 2011, John Edwards was indicted by a federal grand jury for spending campaign money to cover up an affair with his mistress.c But who is she? Born in 1964, Lisa Jo Druck grew up in Florida until her college years. It was during this period that she moved to New York City to become an actress.c Druck became popular in the NY party scene, so much so she became an inspiration for author Jay McInerney.c The writer based his character Alison Poole on Druk in his 1988 novel Story of My Life.
In 1991 she married attorney Alexander Hunter -- adopting his surname -- and the couple moved to Beverly Hills.c In 1994 Hunter changed her first name to "Rielle" and continued to pursue acting, writing and producing.c In 2000, Hunter divorced from her husband and a few years later, she formed a production company based in New Jersey called Midline Groove Productions.c
It was through this company that Hunter started creating campaign viral videos for John Edwards in 2006.c The videographer began a secret affair with the Democratic presidential candidate while his wife was dying from breast cancer.c During this time, Edwards allegedly used over $1 million in 2008 campaign funds to take care of, and cover up, his pregnant mistress.c In February of 2008, 43 year-old Hunter gave birth to their child in Santa Barbara, CA.c
It wasn't until January of 2010 that Edwards admitted publicly that he is the father of Hunter's daughter.
