  • Panetta Surprised

    Dennis Blair's appointment of John Deutch to an advisory panel that will oversee sensitive U.S. satellite programs was brought up during confirmation hearings for Leon Panetta—President Barack Obama's nominee to head the CIA. Republican Senator Tom Coburn expressed concern about Deutch's appointment, given the revocation of his security clearance in 1999. Panetta was reportedly surprised about the appointment, telling the Senate Intelligence Committee "This is the first time I've heard that. I don't want to jump to any quick conclusions.
