John Calipari serves as the head coach of the University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball team in the NCAA. He previously was the head coach for the University of Memphis Tigers men's basketball team.

Early Career
After college, Calipari took his first coaching position in 1982 as an assistant at the University of Kansas. After three seasons with Kansas, Calipari moved to the University of Pittsburgh, where he served as an assistant coach for the next three years. He took his first head coaching position in 1988 at the University of Massachusetts. He led the UMass Minutemen to five-consecutive Atlantic 10 regular season and tournament championships and earned the Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year honors in 1993, 1994 and 1996.Official Site of the Memphis Tigers: John CalipariNBA Years
In 1996, Calipari left the ranks of college basketball to become the head coach of the New Jersey Nets in the National Basketball Association. He was fired from the Nets in 1999 after the team began the season with a 3-17 record. His success continued with the Tigers, leading the team to Conference USA regular season championships in 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009, as well as the Conference USA Touranment Championships in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009.
