John C. Reilly

Chicago native John C. Reilly has been nominated for an Academy Award and three Golden Globes. He nearly always appears as a supporting performer, though he has had a few starring roles, most notably in Jake Kasdan's Walk Hard.

Early Career

Reilly had his first film role in Brian De Palma's Casualties of War, where he met his wife, Alison Dickey. He had minor roles in Days of Thunder, Shadows and Fog and Hoffa before becoming a favorite of director Paul Thomas Anderson in the mid-1990s. Reilly appeared in Anderson's first three films.

Comedies and Dramas

Reilly is known for his versatility at playing both comedic and dramatic roles. Within a matter of years, he appeared in Martin Scorsese's Gangs of New York and The Aviator alongisde Anger Management and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. Though appearing as a leading man, Reilly has not established himself as a solid box office draw by himself, as Walk Hard was a failure at the box office, grossing only $18 million dollars in theaters.
