Early Life
Joel Alberto Pineiro was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, on September 25, 1978. He attended Colonial Florida High School. He continued his education at Edison Community College. In 1997, Pineiro was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 12th round of the Major League Baseball amateur draft.Baseball-Reference.com: Joel PineiroPro Career
On August 8, 2000, Pinero made his MLB debut with the Seattle Mariners. He spent several seasons in the Mariners organization. In 2003, he recorded a career best 16 wins.
