Major League Baseball pitcher Joel Peralta currently plays with the Kansas City Royals orginazation.
Peralta signed as an undrafted amateur free agent on July 4, 1996 by the Oakland Athletics. Almost two years later the Athletics released Peralta and he signed as a free agent with the Anaheim Angels on June 4, 1998. In 2000 he joined the Angels' minor league affiliates for conditioning.
On May 25, 2005, Peralta was called up to make his MLB debut with the Angels. He played a total of 28 games that season, pitching in 35 innings and finishing with a 3.89 ERA.
Following his rookie season, Peralta was waived by the Angels, and claimed by the Kansas City Royals on October 7, 2005. He continued to split his time between the Royals and their affiliates over the next two seasons.
Just days before the 2008 season opened, Peralta was optioned to the Royals AAA affiliate.
