While speaking at a rally in Ohio on October 29, 2008, Republican presidential hopeful John McCain attempted to introduce Joe Wurzelbacher, aka "Joe the Plumber", to the crowd, only to realize that Wurzelbacher was not at the rally as he was thought to be. In an apparent attempt to defer the stand-up, McCain proclaimed "“You’re all Joe the Plumber, so all of you stand up!” Campaign officials later admitted that the schedule had been confused and that Joe the Plumber would be appearing at a rally later in the day.The Wall Street Journal: Joe the Plumber Stands Up John McCain (October 30, 2008)
