Joe Saunders

Major League Baseball starting pitcher Joe Saunders currently plays for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Prior to his MLB career Saunders, attended and played for Virginia Tech University. He was drafted on June 4, 2002 by the then named Anaheim Angels as the 12 overall pick in the MLB Draft. He was immediately placed with the Angels' minor league affiliates for his first few seasons.

On August 16, 2005, Saunders was called up to make his MLB debut with the Angels. He played only two major league games that season, allowing eight runs in just over nine innings.

Saunders continued to split his playing time between the Angels and their minor league teams over the next two seasons, joining the Angels for 13 games in 2006 and 18 games in 2007, mainly filling in for the injured Bartolo Colon.
