Career
Joe Quesada began his professional comics career as an artist for Valiant Comics in 1994. Also in that year, he helped found Event Comics, which was contracted by Marvel Comics to produce titles for the Marvel Knights imprint. Queseda used the appointment to invite independent creators like film maker Kevin Smith to develop stories for established Marvel characters.The success of the Marvel Knights line led to Quesada being hired as editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics in 2000. Quesada stewarded the company out of bankruptcy, launched the Ultimate Universe line of titles, and helped conceive commercially successful "events" like House of M, Civil War, and Secret Invasion.
