Joe Nieuwendyk is a retired Canadian ice hockey player currently managing the Dallas Stars in the NHL.
Nieuwendyk won the Stanley cup three times and is widely regarded as one of the very best face-off men of all time in the NHL. He retired on December 6, 2006 due to chronic back problems.
