Joe Nathan is a right-handed pitcher for the Minnesota Twins. After attending Pine Bush High School in Pine Bush, NY, Nathan went on to play shortstop at Division III University of New York at Stony Brook. In 1995 the San Francisco Giants selected Nathan in the 6th round of the amateur draft, with the intention of converting him to a pitcher. Nathan made his MLB debut for the Giants in 1999, starting 14 games and posting a 7-4 record. The Giants traded Nathan and Boof Bonser to the Twins in 2003, in exchange for A.J. Pierzynski and cash. Nathan is the Twins Primary closer.
Strengths
Nathan uses a 90+ mph fastball, a curveball, a change-up, and a cutter. He is a top notch closer.[1]
Weaknesses
Not as effective against lefties.[1]
