Joseph Lowell Gordon was a second baseman for the New York Yankees and Cleveland Indians of Major League Baseball. In 1942, he was named the American League Most Valuable Player. During his career in Major League Baseball, Gordon was also a manager for the Cleveland Indians, Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Athletics.
On December 8, 2008, Gordon was selected by Baseball's Hall of Fame veterans committee to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Gordon beat out other players such as Gil Hodges, Ron Santo, and Joe Torre.
