Joe Francis is the creator/producer behind Girls Gone Wild DVDs. Francis was jailed in 2007 in relation to federal tax evasion charges. On March 10, 2008, Francis was bailed to allow him to travel to Florida to face charges related to the filming of underage girls in 2003. Federal prosecutors in Nevada and state attorneys in Florida are looking to prosecute. Francis sent an email to his friends stating "...I posted my bond in Reno so that I can immediately return to Florida to face the charges against me. I will be released from jail in Reno in the next few hours." Francis's lawyers maintain that the underage girls lied about their ages and that none of the footage was used.
