Calzaghe announced his retirement on February 5, 2009, finishing his career with an unbeaten 46-0 record, saying "It was a difficult decision but I have achieved everything I wanted to achieve in boxing. Joseph William Calzaghe was born in Hammersmith, London, England. He started boxing at the age of nine and compiled an amateur record of 110 wins and 10 losses. Calzaghe turned pro in 1993 and compiled a record of 46 wins, zero losses and 32 KOs.
